  • A three day Art Camp will be offered 5th – 7th August for 12 children where they will make lanterns and Good Luck banners to be used in the Railway Days parade on August 15th. They will view the exhibitions at the Revelstoke Museum and Archive, and the Revelstoke Railway Museum as part of the project. Registration $100 per child, call 250-814-0261

  • Daily at the Revelstoke Railway Museum, 9:00 am to 8 pm. Kid’s Caboose full of games, puzzles, pictures to color, dress up, Thomas the Tank Engine layout, and telegrapher’s station. Kids 6 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
     
  • Daily on the Mezzanine at the Revelstoke Railway Museum, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. See the Revelstoke Model Railroad Society’s HO gauge layout and watch the trains go by. Kids 6 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
     
  • Saturday, August 23 ~ Kid’s Day ~ 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Craft Area: Card making, cookie decorating, coloring contest, train craft, Chinese Yo-Yo, Chinese dragons, Chinese lanterns, Lunch in Rotary Park behind the Museum, bring your own, we will supply cake for a snack. Play on ‘Timmy the Tank’, the Museum’s climb on and climb in miniature train. Dress up in railroad costumes and win a prize. Bounce on the “Crock,” our inflatable jumping slide. Water…on the Rocks! Presented by Mountain WIT, Parks Canada's very own team of professional actors, again on August 24th, 2:00 pm. Kids 6 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

  • Sunday, August 17 ~ Saturday & Sunday, August 23 & 24 ~ Revelstoke Museum & Archives will be open for kids from 1 to 5 pm. Children’s activities will be available.
     
  • Thursday, August 21 ~ Heritage Explorers Children’s Program at Revelstoke Museum & Archives from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. $3.50 per child. This week’s session will focus on “Chinese Legacies.” Children will make crafts and play games to help them learn about China.

  • August 16 & 17 ~ Orchid Ensemble Workshop ~ 2:00 PM.
    The Orchid Ensemble offers a special program for young audiences, featuring instruments, music, and stories from China and around the world. The presentation acts as a vehicle for greater understanding of Asian culture and includes student participation, 2:00 pm at the Community Centre. Registration $10 per student, reserve at the Revelstoke Railway Museum call (250) 837-6060.
     
  • August 16 ~ K-12 Workshop:
    Construction, history, and geographic origins of the Orchid Ensemble’s instruments. Specific musical style, culture, and lifestyle of distinct minority peoples in China. Asian myths and creation stories. Knowledge and appreciation of tonal languages. Knowledge and ability to perform rhythms associated with traditional Beijing opera. The challenges and rewards of cross cultural collaboration. Appreciation and awareness of our cultural mosaic.
     
  • August 17 ~ Silk Road Workshop, ideal for grades 6-12.
    How does the geography of a region influence culture? What is cultural identity? What are the various elements that define individuals and groups? What is cultural exchange? How did it take place on the Silk Road? What was exchanged? What is the impact of diverse cultural exchange, modernization, standardization, globalization…then and now?
