9:00 AM ~ Revelstoke Railway Museum opens.
Explore Canada's history and railway heritage in one of Canada's premiere railway museums! Learn about the building of the railway, the workers involved, the final days of construction and present day operations.

  • The Museum houses the beautifully restored CPR locomotive #5468. Built in 1948 for the Revelstoke Division, the Mikado P-2k 2-8-2 is an awesome representation of the Big Steam Era. This is one of the larger steam engines ever used on CPR lines.
     
  • Tour CPR Business Car #4 and out in the "Yard." find more original rolling stock - caboose, snow plow, flange car, and maintenance equipment.
     
  • See the new Chinese Legacies exhibition that tells the story of the contribution of Chinese laborers during the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, and the Prints from CPR Magic Lantern Slides 1885-1930 exhibition located in the Museum’s mezzanine.
     
     
  • Visit with the Revelstoke Model Railroad Society and see their layout on the mezzanine level.
      
  • See Craigellachie, where the ‘last spike’ was driven in November of 1885, west of Revelstoke on the Trans Canada Highway. The Revelstoke Railway Museum operates a Gift Shop at the site.

10:00 AM ~ Rogers Pass Tour.
Rail-fan special guided tour from the Revelstoke Railway Museum in cooperation with Parks Canada to GLACIER NATIONAL PARK.

  • First stop at the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre, located at the summit of the Pass, the Centre has a theatre, exhibits about the discovery of Rogers Pass and the completion of the railway, and natural history displays.
     
  • Then explore the story of Rogers Pass presented at the Abandoned Rails, 1885 and Loop Brook trails along the old rail line, and at Glacier House, the ruins of one of Canadian Pacific’s great hotels.
     
  • Tour leaves the Railway Museum at 10:00 AM. Advance ticket sales and reservations call (250) 837-6060, $20 per passenger

10:00 AM to 1:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Speeders at the Wye.
CPR Home Track, Victoria Street 10:00 am to 1:00 pm ~ 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Speeder rides by donation to the Revelstoke Railway Museum. CP employee parking lot on Victoria Road past the Railway Museum.
 

2:00 PM ~ Rail Yard Tour.
See the Railway Museum’s latest acquisitions, CPR 5500 (Canadian Pacific’s first SD-40), and the Robot Car at the CP Revelstoke Yard. Assemble at the CP employee parking lot at the Wye on Victoria Road past the Railway Museum. Registration and waiver at the Railway Museum from 9:00 am to 1:45 pm.

5:00 PM ~ Railway Magic Lantern Show.
Presented by Michael Lawlor, at the Nickelodeon Museum, 5:00 pm. Call (250) 837-5250 for reservations.

7:00 PM ~ Rail Fan Multimedia Presentations & Lectures.
The Selkirk Division of the Canadian Heritage Railway Association (CHRA) welcomes railway enthusiasts to an evening of slide presentations, lectures, and photos. Join Phil Mason, and others for railway history at its best. Bring your 35 mm slides, Power Point presentations, videos, CD images, and photographs for show at the RAIL-FAN MULTI MEDIA PRESENTATIONS event. Held in the Doug Weir Theatre at the Revelstoke Revelstoke Railway Museum. 7:00 pm on, light refreshments will be served.

    The Orchid Ensemble offers a special program for young audiences, featuring instruments, music, and stories from China and around the world. The presentation acts as a vehicle for greater understanding of Asian culture and includes student participation, 2:00 pm at the Community Centre.   • Orchid Ensemble Performance.
    Vancouver’s renowned Orchid Ensemble blends ancient musical instruments and traditions from China and beyond, creating a beautiful new sound that is both creative and distinct, 7:30 pm at the Community Centre.   • Chinese Legacies, The Revelstoke Community ~ Exhibition Opening.
